About PracticePoker

PracticePoker is an independent, play-money Texas Hold’em simulator built around a simple routine: play a hand, examine a decision, and try an adjustment.

You play against computer opponents with different tendencies and skill levels. The aim is to give you a comfortable place to practice following the action, reasoning about possible hands, and making decisions under uncertainty.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real-money poker?

No. Chips have no monetary value. You cannot deposit money, withdraw winnings, or win cash prizes.

Am I playing against other people?

No. Your opponents are controlled by the game.

Do opponents always follow the same style?

Each opponent has general tendencies, but their choices can vary as the match develops. An aggressive player can check, and a selective player can bluff.

Do the bots adapt to my play?

Yes, within the current match. They track public actions, including how often players raise and fold when facing a bet, and make limited adjustments to their decisions. Stronger bots use these observations more. Recent actions carry more weight as older observations fade.

These are programmed adjustments, not a model trained on your personal play history. The observations are saved with your match in this browser. Starting a new match gives the new opponents fresh memories.

Which difficulty should I choose?

Beginner Table introduces the fundamentals. Home Game offers a casual challenge. Casino Game, High Roller Game, and Pro Game increase the strength of the computer opponents and the depth of review concepts. These names describe settings within PracticePoker.

Can I pause?

Yes. Use Pause when you want time to think or step away.

Does my game save?

The game saves in your browser when local storage is available. Clearing browser data can remove that save. Different devices, browsers, and website addresses can have separate saves.

Can I play offline?

Yes. Download the standalone edition before you lose your connection, then open the downloaded HTML file in a compatible browser. Its saved match can be separate from your online game.

Will practicing here make me a winning poker player?

Practice may improve how you approach poker, but it cannot guarantee winning results. The bots do not perfectly reproduce how people play, and success against them does not establish how you would perform in a real game. The feedback is a learning aid. Your opponents, the stakes, and chance also affect your results, especially over a short session.

How do I report a problem?

Use Feedback on the site. Describe what happened, what you expected, and any steps that reproduce it. Avoid including private or sensitive information.
